Oishi Goes Cycling Saturday, May 22nd , 2055 In an outing that will go down in the annals of baseball history, Eugene center fielder Kumanosuke Oishi hit for the cycle today as the Ducks marched to victory over the San Antonio Turtles, 10-4. Oishi collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 1 RBI and 3 runs scored to help Eugene take the Turtles Field contest. "It was the last thing on my mind, really," Oishi said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway." Kumanosuke Oishi singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Alvin Bullard in the 4th, doubled in the 5th and tripled in the 8th. Thus far this season Oishi is hitting .282 with 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has 42 hits in 149 at-bats and has played in 37 games. View Boxscore |
