League Suspends Joseph and Garcia for Brawl Friday, June 23rd , 2056 Yesterday at Toronto Field Mike Joseph and Ricky Garcia got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Toronto Blue Jays and Annapolis Destroyers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Joseph will have to sit out 4 while Garcia would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Joseph is hitting at a .294 mark this season. His stats show no home runs, 20 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has played 33 games for the Blue Jays. This year Garcia has earned no saves, worked 62.1 innings, fanned 51 hitters and recorded a 6.64 ERA. He has also put up a 1-3 won-lost mark. |
