Squires End Graves's Streak Tuesday, July 30th , 2047 It was the best of both worlds for the Hampton Roads Squires today at Farmers Field, as they defeated the Beckley Farmers 11-1 and also snapped Alan Graves's 24-game hitting streak. The 33-year-old Beckley center fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Graves, we just wanted to win the game," said Squires skipper . "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Graves frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." For the year Graves has hit .398 with 12 home runs, 39 RBIs and scored 40 runs. |
