Eagles Pleijt and Explorers Ramos Suspended for Fight Wednesday, August 7th , 2047 Yesterday at Eagles Ballpark Jochen Pleijt and Augusto Ramos got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Wilmington Eagles and Raleigh Explorers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Pleijt will have to sit out 3 while Ramos would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Pleijt is swinging at a .265 pace on the year with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has played in 31 games. For the year, Ramos has collected 2 saves in 49 relief appearances. He has also rung up 77 strikeouts and 21 walks in 72.1 innings while registering a 6.35 ERA and a 11-4 won-lost mark. |
