ELE Most Valuable Pitcher Goes to Martínez

The spotlight today is on Alfredo Martínez of the Hampton Roads Squires. He was named the top pitcher in the East and will be honored with the 2047 Most Valuable Pitcher.

Martínez compiled an impressive 12-5 won-lost mark to capture this year's honor. In 160.1 innings of work and 28 starts, the Squires star struck out 119, while giving up 161 hits and 50 walks. He limited opposing batters to a .264 average.

He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 20. Tony Jackson of the Pittsburgh Crawfords finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Jermaine Scott of the Raleigh Explorers finished third.
