Hicks Smacks 5 Hits for Grizzles Wednesday, July 13th , 2050 The Raleigh Explorers downed the Fresno Grizzles 9-7 today at Grizzles Park, in spite of the best efforts of Fresno third baseman Dusty Hicks. Hicks lashed the ball all over the park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with a 5-for-6 line -- and a loss. "I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," he said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter." Asked if he would adjust his strategy next time the Explorers face Hicks, Raleigh manager said "absolutely not." "Our strategy was to not give him good pitches to hit," he said. "We didn't do that, and he worked us over. Thankfully, we won anyway, and next time we'll pitch to him better." Dusty Hicks singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. Thus far this season Hicks is hitting .351 with 11 home runs, 39 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 78 hits in 222 at-bats and has played in 60 games. View Boxscore |
