Rowdy Players Suspended by League Sunday, July 13th , 2053 Yesterday at Battle Cats Park Florêncio Xarito and Juan Sosa got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Olympia Battle Cats and St. Louis Sportsman. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Xarito will have to sit out 4 while Sosa would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Xarito is hitting .267 so far this season with 18 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 47 hits including 2 home runs, 32 walks and .386 OBP. Sosa has started 15 times this year, pitched 67 innings, fanned 51 batters and walked 37. His current record is 5 wins and 2 losses with a 6.72 ERA. |
