Pride End Murphy's Streak Saturday, August 12th , 2056 It just wasn't Johnny Murphy's day. The Menlo Park Marauders took the 3-2 win today over the Cincinnati Pride, but the Pride mound staff did what nobody else could -- they stopped the 21-game hitting streak of Marauders left fielder Johnny Murphy. "We might have focused a bit too much on stopping Murphy," Cincinnati manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Marauders have other hitters and they did their job today." Murphy is batting .307 this season in 107 games with 13 home runs, 71 RBIs and 79 runs scored. He has 134 hits in 436 at-bats. |
