Irimescu's 20-Game Hitting Streak Ends Tuesday, May 28th , 2058 Andrei Irimescu saw his 20-game hitting streak wither and die today during the Paducah Tigers win over Salem at Paducah Ballpark. The 22-year-old left fielder was held hitless in 2 at-bats by the Salem Cherries, but his teammates produced enough offense to take the game, 4-3. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Irimescu told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 20 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good." This year Irimescu is batting .349 with 6 home runs and 23 RBIs. In 45 games he has scored 33 times. |
