Trappers End Watkins's Streak Thursday, May 28th , 2065 It was the best of both worlds for the Vancouver Trappers today at Paducah Ballpark, as they defeated the Paducah Tigers 4-0 and also snapped Doug Watkins's 26-game hitting streak. The 23-year-old Paducah right fielder failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Watkins, we just wanted to win the game," said Trappers skipper . "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Watkins frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." This season Watkins has hit 4 home runs and posted a .297 batting average. |
