Martinez and Wellon Suspended for Free-for-All Tuesday, September 10th , 2069 If there wasn't a history between Francisco Martinez of Albuquerque and Robby Wellon of Springfield, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 5 and 3 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Martinez said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." Martinez's current batting average stands at .283 and he has chalked up 19 home runs and 70 RBIs. This season, Wellon has accumulated no saves, registered a 8.38 ERA and struck out 63 in 67.2 innings. He also has a 2-5 record in 44 relief appearances. |
