Oishi, Axworthy Suspended for Fracas Friday, July 14th , 2051 If there wasn't a history between Kumanosuke Oishi of Bend and Jim Axworthy of Spokane, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 4 and 6 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Oishi said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." This season Oishi is swinging the bat at a .279 rate with 86 hits in 308 at-bats. To date he has hit 6 home runs, scored 44 runs and driven in 44. In 17 starts this season Axworthy has notched a 6-5 record and a 5.59 ERA. |
