Maldonado Strokes 5 Hits Sunday, August 13th , 2045 Punta Gorda center fielder Marc Maldonado could do no wrong in today's 13-5 win over the Rage as he collected 5 hits. "Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Rage skipper said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts." Maldonado agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game. "Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Marc Maldonado hit an RBI double in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off César Rodríguez in the 8th. This season Maldonado has banged out 126 hits in 434 at-bats for a .290 average with 21 home runs. He is getting on base at a .389 pace and his totals also include 70 RBIs and 80 runs scored.
