Jacksonville's Sheffield to Miss Season
Friday, July 19th , 2047
The doctors have spoken and Chris Sheffield of the Jacksonville Rockies didn't like what he heard. The 18-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Sheffield sustained his season-ending injury during the Sanford Swamp Things game yesterday at The Swamp. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Jacksonville medical staff reported Sheffield had a torn ulnar collateral ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 9 months.
Checking out his stats for the season, Sheffield has racked up 5 wins and 6 losses in 18 starts, 6.51 ERA and struck out 87 batters in 92.2 innings.
