Montreal HS Hurler Tops in Outstanding Pitcher Award Voting

A sparkling 2-2 mark for the year just about says it all -- that's what Lonnie Cox of the Montreal HS Loggers put up this season. That's why the Pioneer League rated him the #1 hurler in the league and named him the 2049 Outstanding Pitcher Award winner.

He held opposing clubs to a .224 batting average and compiled a 1.36 ERA. Cox stood out with 36 strikeouts while giving up 28 hits and 8 walks in 33 innings.

He received 40 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ricky Lowe of the Lackland AFB HS Bombers finished second in voting, while Jesús Oliva of the New Orleans HS Locomotives finished third.
