Stanford 5-for-5 for Tucson HS Thursday, April 21st , 2050 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. Rod Stanford is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Phoenix HS Fire Ants at Ballpark of Phoenix HS today. The monster effort from the 17-year-old second baseman helped the Tucson HS Pioneers take the win, 7-1. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Fire Ants manager . "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." Rod Stanford doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and doubled in the 8th. Stanford is presently hitting at a .387 pace with 11 home runs, 33 RBIs and has scored 20 times. View Boxscore |
