Lyon and Smart Suspended for Free-for-All Sunday, April 30th , 2051 Yesterday at Bisons Ballpark Pat Lyon and Bruce Smart got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Buffalo HS Bisons and Kirbyville HS Drillers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Lyon will have to sit out 3 while Smart would be given a 7-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Lyon is hitting .231 in 2051 with 7 RBIs and 3 home runs. Smart's record this year is 1-and-1 with no saves and a 6.75 ERA. He has given up 24 hits in 17.1 innings with 27 strikeouts. |
