Home Run a Record-Setter for Chapa Friday, August 30th , 2058 There's a new Sultan of Swat in the baseball world. Alfredo Chapa went deep for home run number 142 of his illustrious career, making the Wyoming Goats slugger the all-time home run king. Chapa surpassed Bob Ramsey with a historic blast at Ballpark of Wyoming to take over the top spot. He facetiously told the press that he "was grateful to all the pitchers who made this day possible." Switching to a more serious tone, Chapa gave thanks and credit to his managers, coaches and teammates along the way for helping him succeed "far more than I had ever dreamed." Alfredo Chapa grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, doubled in the 8th and homered off Ted Dunn in the 10th. Presently Chapa is batting .280 with 111 hits and 21 home runs. He has knocked in 64 runs and scored 54 times. |
