Martínez Gets Award for Relief Work Wednesday, October 2nd , 2058 Alfredo Martínez has won the 2058 East Reliever of the Year Award, which at age 35 is a "milestone achievement" for the Virginia Colonels reliever. "I feel accomplished to win this when there are other younger, stronger, harder-throwing guys out there," he said. The Levittown, Puerto Rico native's numbers speak for themselves, as he captured the award with 20 saves in 49 relief appearances, compiling 71.1 innings. He had 61 strikeouts and 18 walks, a record of 5-3 and an ERA of 1.26. He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Luis Zepeda of the Wisconsin Berserkers finished second in voting, while Augusto Ramos of the Massachusetts Possums finished third.
