The 34-year-old veteran turned in a sparkling performance and has won the East Reliever of the Year Award. He captured the award with 6 saves in 41 relief appearances, 79 strikeouts and 19 walks in 43.2 innings. He put up a record of 6-2 to go with his 1.24 ERA. He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Tony Balderas of the Massachusetts Possums finished second in voting, while Luis Silva of the Wisconsin Berserkers finished third.
