UBLW Player of the Week Goes to Contreras of Missouri Monday, July 12th , 2060 27-year-old Bret Contreras sent shock waves through United Baseball League last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the West Player of the Week Award. A newcomer to the league, Contreras made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .450 average, 9 hits in 20 at-bats, 5 home runs and 9 RBI. Where the Missouri Mules first baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Contreras certainly made his mark last week. This year Contreras is hitting at a .236 pace with 19 home runs and 44 RBIs. He has played in 54 games and scored 29 times. |
