UBLW Hands Out Reliever of the Year Award

When Jesús Ortega jogged in from the bullpen this season, opposing teams knew they were going to have a tough time putting up runs.

The
Missouri Mules closer turned in a dominant campaign and has been named the West Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2065.

His award-winning season saw the bullpen ace get 36 saves in 49 relief appearances, 44 strikeouts in 57.1 innings and only 8 walks. He had a record of 5 wins and 2 losses to go with his 1.41 ERA.

"I hope I can pitch like this every year," he said.

He received 20 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jim van Boselen of the Louisiana Admirals finished second in voting, while Luis Zepeda of the Utah Rhinos finished third.
