League Championship Series Goes the Distance, Brooklyn Prevails
The fans in Brooklyn are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Wilmington.

The Brooklyn Dodgers finished off the Wilmington Eagles 7-4 in the deciding game of the League Championship Series played at Brooklyn Park.

They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Explorer Cup.

For his standout play, Brooklyn third baseman Joe Thompson was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.

He batted .517, drove in 5 runs and scored 6 to lead his club to victory.

"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Thompson and that doomed us," said Eagles manager . "Hats off to Brooklyn, though. That was a great series."

The Brooklyn Dodgers will play against the Eugene Ducks in the next round. Eugene won their series against the Rochester Spartans 4 games to 2. The Explorer Cup schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
