Fighter Pilots Prevail, as League Championship Series Goes to the Wire
|
Depending on your loyalties, the League Championship Series was either thrilling or heartbreaking.
The series went down to its final game, with the Caseyville Fighter Pilots and the Carlsbad Bad Apples giving their fans plenty of drama. In the end, the Fighter Pilots came out on top, winning 4-1 at Caseyville Stadium today to take the series 4-3.
"We're lucky to be going into the Confederation Cup," said Caseyville pitcher Jason Osborn. "If all the series are like this, it'll definitely be an entertaining postseason."
Osborn earned series MVP honors, hitting for a .478 average, with 0 home runs, 6 RBI and 4 runs scored.
The Caseyville Fighter Pilots will play against the Ottawa Lynx in the next round. Ottawa won their series against the Erie Brigs 4 games to 1. The Confederation Cup schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
