Empire Hitless Against Perez
Saturday, June 7th , 2064
Maryland Bridegrooms starter Tony Perez came up big today at Bridegrooms Stadium with an exceptional 1-0 outing against the New York Empire. Not only did he whip them, but Perez held them hitless, too.
"My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Perez. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens."
In the course of the no-hitter, Perez collected 12 strikeouts and surrendered 2 walks -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books.
To date this season Perez is 4-2 with 12 starts and an ERA of 2.76 with 89 strikeouts in 81.2 innings.
