Gutiérrez Homers 3 Times Against Idaho Falls Sunday, August 24th , 2059 Rochester Spartans catcher José Gutiérrez had a magnificent game against the Idaho Falls Rapids today, rocketing three balls out of Spartans Stadium to help the Spartans take the 13-12 victory. "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes." For the game, Gutiérrez went 3-for-5 with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," Rochester manager said later. "Seems like José found his home run stroke today." José Gutiérrez flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Art Schmidt in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Steve Mrazek in the 10th and hit a solo-shot off Juan Maldonado in the 12th. For the year Gutiérrez is batting .313 with 56 hits and 11 home runs. He has scored 25 times and driven in 29. |
