Hit Streak Over, Ducks Stop Beaulieu Friday, July 10th , 2065 Late in the game, all eyes in Eugene Ballpark were on Maxence Beaulieu as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Beaulieu, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Beaulieu today, it was that his Houston Stampede won the game anyway, stopping the Eugene Ducks by the score of 6-2. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Beaulieu told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember." So far this year Beaulieu is batting .324 with 15 home runs, 43 RBIs and 33 runs scored. |
