Solano Grabs ELE Reliever of the Year Award

Birmingham Vulcans reliever Tony Solano said he loves to come into the game when the outcome is in jeopardy.

He certainly did a good job of impacting his team's outcomes this season, as he has been named the winner of the 2065 Reliever of the Year Award for the East.

"There's no better feeling than running in from the bullpen with the game on the line and your heart pumping," Solano said.

On the season, the Poseyville, Indiana native had 16 saves in 42 relief appearances, 51 strikeouts in 40 innings and a record of 4 wins and 2 losses to go with his 2.25 ERA.

He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 20. Iván Concepción of the Wilmington Eagles finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Steve Flowers of the Pittsburgh Crawfords finished third with 4 first place votes.
