The veteran captured the award with a .378 batting average and a .443 on-base percentage this year. In 118 games he piled up 172 hits, 34 doubles, 3 triples, 37 home runs, 97 RBIs and 99 runs scored. He received 20 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Patrick Morris of the Fresno Grizzlies finished second in voting, while Marc Cooper of the Wilmington Eagles finished third.
