Great Day for Abel -- 5 Hits Saturday, September 6th , 2070 Brent Abel exploded for a barrage of base hits at Sportsman Park. The St. Louis left fielder had a field day in his team's 12-3 triumph over the Oklahoma City Whirlwind, finishing 5-for-5. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Abel must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Brent Abel hit a solo-shot off Éric Rossi in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
