Big Day with Bat: Mata 5-for-5 Friday, August 10th , 2046 Miguel Angel Mata exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Avalanche Park. The Colorado Springs center fielder had a field day in the 13-7 triumph over the Idaho Falls Rapids, finishing 5-for-5. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Mata must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Miguel Angel Mata singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 8th. So far this year Mata has 8 home runs and a .321 batting average.
