Cobras Pitching Ravaged by Martin
Wednesday, August 16th , 2051
Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Dave Martin said his club's tilt with the Glendale Cobras "felt almost like batting practice." The 21-year-old first baseman went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate.
"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.
However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Idaho Falls Rapids, who were topped by the Cobras, 11-8.
"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Rapids manager said. "Sometimes Dave is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose."
Dave Martin singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Erik Jones in the 9th.
This season Martin has hit at a .322 clip with 26 RBIs, 8 home runs and 32 runs scored. He has played in 47 games.
