Gunther Socks it to Ottawa 3 Times Friday, August 8th , 2053 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Ottawa Lynx today. Hilton Head third baseman Chris Gunther tripled up on the home runs to propel the Islanders to the 13-7 win at Ottawa Stadium. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Ottawa manager said. "Gunther hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Gunther collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Chris Gunther hit a solo-shot off Luis Barrera in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Luis Barrera in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Norm McKerlich in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th. Presently Gunther is batting .306 and has collected 18 home runs, 56 RBIs, .363 OBP and scored 41 runs. |
