Gleason 5-for-5 for Lynx
Friday, July 18th , 2059
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Jim Gleason got his name recorded today, but the Hilton Head Islanders picked up the win at Hilton Head Park, topping the Ottawa Lynx, 8-7.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager . "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Gleason, who is tied for 3rd in the CLE in triples with 6, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the center fielder said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Jim Gleason doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

For the year Gleason is batting .394 with 5 home runs.
