Monnig on Fire: 5-for-5 for San Luis Obispo
Sunday, October 12th , 2059
The San Luis Obispo Saints stopped the Corpus Christi Hooks by a score of 11-3 at Saints Stadium today, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Mark Monnig. The 22-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Monnig said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Monnig did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Hooks.
"Not much that I can say," offered Corpus Christi manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Mark Monnig singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.
So far this season Monnig has gotten 63 hits in 181 at-bats for a .348 batting average with 7 home runs. His stats include 46 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has played in 50 games.
