5-for-5 Day for Carpenter
Wednesday, May 21st , 2070
Jeff Carpenter was sizzling at the plate. The Erie left fielder blistered the Toledo Ducks for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but couldn't prevent his club from falling to defeat, 12-10.
"Carpenter was too tough to get out today," Ducks skipper said in a postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too. But hey, I don't mind if every game somebody gets 5 hits off us, as long as we win."
Jeff Carpenter hit a solo-shot off Greg Fagan in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Carpenter has a .276 average and a .371 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 42 hits, 6 home runs and driven in 24 runs.
