Wickers Gets Award for Relief Work

Ellis Wickers of the Tucson Baby Snakes said he never set out to win the West Reliever of the Year Award this season, but he'll certainly take it.

"2051 was a pretty good year for me, that much is obvious," he said. "This is icing on the cake."

The 27-year-old out of Charlotte Amalie West, Virgin Islands fashioned a 2.55 ERA this season over 113 innings of work. He made 33 relief appearances and had 3 saves, 116 strikeouts, 40 walks and a record of 11 wins and 4 losses.

He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 20. Jeff Taylor of the Caseyville Fighter Pilots finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Meto Latu of the Caseyville Fighter Pilots finished third with 6 first place votes.
