RL Awards Best Batter Prize to Volz Monday, April 7th , 2064 St. Louis HS's Joey Volz would not be denied the Republic League Player of the Week Award for this past week. His consistent stroke, which produced 8 hits in 17 at-bats and a .471 average, made him the clear favorite to win the honor. "You just go out there and do what you have to do," said Volz, "When I'm up, I try to focus and block everything else out of my mind and have a good at-bat. I'm up there to get a hit or advance a runner, not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment. I hope I can win this award every week." He also tallied 5 home runs, 11 RBIs, and scored 6 runs. So far on the season Volz is hitting .324 with 5 home runs, 13 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 12 hits and played in 13 games. |
