Gruver Gets Award for Relief Work

He may only be 14, but Nick Gruver of the Old Westbury HS Dukes has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Pioneer League.

The reliever was today named the PL Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2064.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 6 saves in 13 relief appearances and 30 strikeouts in 21 innings. He had a record of 3-0 to go with his 0.00 ERA.

He received 36 first place votes out of a possible 40. Gabe Moore of the Akron HS Cobras finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Takenori Nakamura of the Quebec City HS Nordiques finished third.
