The manager of the Kirbyville HS Drillers said he thinks Jose Perez is only going to get better as he gets older.

He may only be 15, but it will be hard to top the first baseman's 2065 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Republic League Outstanding Hitter Award.

His winning campaign featured a .397 batting average and a .471 on-base percentage this year. In 30 games he piled up 48 hits, 5 doubles, no triples, 14 home runs, 38 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 40. Adam Kelly of the Reno HS Wranglers finished second in voting with 13 first place votes, while Jared Pierce of the Garrettsville HS River Cats finished third.
