Mathews Has 20-Game Hitting Streak Wednesday, May 15th , 2047 Jake Mathews has been ripping hits every day for a while now, and nobody seems able to stop him. The San Francisco HS first baseman picked up 4 more today against the Gordon HS Spartans and now has a 20-game hitting streak. The Sea Lions won the game 9-6. "Definitely somebody's going to stop me at some point," he said later, chuckling. "I'll enjoy it for the time being." Jake Mathews singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit a three-run double in the 9th. This year Mathews has socked 64 hits in 169 at-bats for a .379 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .459 pace and his totals also include 41 RBIs and 39 runs scored. |
