5-Hit Game for Rodgers Sunday, April 23rd , 2051 Ed Rodgers was at the head of a Mesa HS hit parade today at Drillers Stadium. The first baseman went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Warlords to a 20-6 victory over the Kirbyville HS Drillers. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Rodgers told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Drillers skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Ed Rodgers was hit by a pitch in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Billy Snow in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Charlie Norman in the 8th. This season Rodgers is batting .288 with 19 hits, 7 home runs, 19 RBIs, .453 OBP and has scored 17 runs. View Boxscore |
