Sunrise Halts Soto's Hitting Steak Friday, July 3rd , 2065 Ed Soto, first baseman for the Jacksonville Rockies, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 3 tries against the Sunrise Gators today. Not only did the Gators break his 28-game hitting streak, they also beat Jacksonville by the score of 9-4. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Soto said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate." Thus far this season in 79 games Soto is batting .384 with 21 home runs, 65 RBIs and 54 runs scored. He has 113 hits in 294 at-bats. |
