Staples Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 23 Monday, August 3rd , 2065 The hitting streak that Orlando second baseman John Staples had kept going for 23 games was ended today by the Miami Aces. Staples was stymied over 3 at-bats today, but the rest of his team picked him up, taking the 9-8 victory at Orlando Stadium. "Hitting streaks come and go," Staples said. "It did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with something like that always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win." To date this season Staples is hitting .428 with 5 home runs. |
